Vachanamrut Essence
Gadhadā II-3
- The path of amorousness and the path of brahma-gnān [ātmā-realisation] can lead to both liberation and downfall.
- Reasons for falling from the path of liberation:
- In the path of amorousness: when God is described in the scriptures, women devotees are also described, which causes one’s mind to become infatuated with the women devotees.
- In the path of brahma-gnān: one develops the false understanding that Brahma assumes the mobile and immobile forms of creation and believes his own jiva to be God, which causes a breach in upāsanā.
- Means for securing liberation:
- When offering bhakti to God in the amorous path, preventing one’s mind from becoming infatuated by considering the women devotees as one’s mother, sister, or daughter.
- When offering bhakti to God in the brahma-gnān path, developing oneness with one’s jivātmā and with Brahma and worship Parabrahma while maintaining a master-servant relationship with Him.
- Brahma: the cause of and supporter of Prakruti-Purush, etc. and pervades all through its antaryāmi powers.
- Parabrahma: is distinct from Brahma and is the cause, supporter, and inspirer of even Brahma.
