Gadhadā II-34

1. The māyik elements in the form of the effect – body, indriyas, antahkaran – are jad [non-living; without consciousness].
2. The cause of the elements in the form of the effect are the presiding deities, who are chaitanya [living, possessing consciousness].
3. The jiva pervades the body, indriyas, etc.; therefore, the māyik body, indriyas, etc. appear to be chaitanya [but in reality they are jad].
