Vachanamrut Essence

Gadhadā I-26

  1. A genuine amorous devotee:
  1. In the wakeful state in the physical body:
  1. He is attracted to the five vishays related to God.
  2. He bears an aversion to the worldly vishays.
  1. In the dream state in the subtle [sukshma] body:
  1. He experiences bliss related to God only.
  2. He bears an aversion to other vishays similar to an aversion to vomit.
  1. A false amorous devotee:
  1. In the wakeful state in the physical body and in the dream state in the sukshma body, just as he experiences pleasure from God-related vishays he experiences equal pleasure from worldly vishays.
  2. His upāsanā and understanding is flawed.
  1. When only thoughts of God remain, then one identifies one’s self and brahma and sees form of God in his heart.
  2. Affection towards only the form of God in this manner is called faithful bhakti [pativratāni bhakti].
