Gadhadā I-70

  1. In the battle that occurs within one’s heart between the words of kusangis and the words of the Sant:
  1. When the strength of kusangis increases, then a desire to indulge in the vishays arises.
  2. When the strength of the Sant increases, the desire to indulge in the vishays disappears.
  3. If one wins the fight with kusangis, he will go to God’s abode.
  4. If one who dies while fighting with kusangis, then God will help him.
  1. Ways to increase the strength of the Sant and decrease the strength of kusang:
  1. Avoid the company of external kusangis.
  2. Keeping the company of the Sant residing externally.
  1. Faith in God:
  1. When one practices satsang for the sole purpose of his liberation but not due to a desire for material objects, then one’s faith in God remains firm.
  2. If one practises satsang while nourishing desires for some objects and those desires are not fulfilled, one’s faith will diminish.
  1. When one with faith in God encounters misery, one should understand that God reduces the suffering of being executed on a shuli by a mere thorn-prick.
  2. Shriji Mahārāj asked for these two boons from Rāmānand Swami:
  1. “If your satsangi is destined to suffer the distress inflicted by the sting of one scorpion, may the distress of the stings of millions and millions of scorpions befall each and every pore of my body; but no pain should afflict your satsangi.”
  2. “If the begging bowl is written in the prārabdha of your satsangi, may that begging bowl come to Me; but on no account should your satsangi suffer from the lack of food or clothing.”
