Loya-4: If One Doubts God, One Cannot Be Said to Have Overcome Māyā
History
In the concluding paragraphs of this Vachanāmrut, the conversation between Muktānand Swāmi and Jhinābhāi is based on this historical account:
On Kārtik vad 9 of Samvat 1877, Shriji Mahārāj arrived in Loyā. In this remote village, Mahārāj wanted to conduct a gnān-satra, a series of discourses with the sādhus regarding certain fundamental principles. His desire was that the sādhus spread the message far and wide after gaining this knowledge. Five days after arriving in Loyā, Jhinābhāi arrived from Panchālā to invite Mahārāj to Panchālā as He did yearly. This year, Mahārāj was not able to grace Panchālā because of the gnān-satra. Jhinābhāi even pleaded to Mahārāj to come to Panchālā but Mahārāj said, “Jhinābhāi, I cannot come right now as I’m conducting a gnān-satra in the presence of the senior sādhus. I will certainly come in due time.”
Jhinābhāi was taken aback with these words as He felt Mahārāj was dismissive. Muktānand Swāmi comforted him but Jhinābhāi could not come to terms with Mahārāj not coming to Panchālā. Instead, Jhinābhāi took a vow: Until Mahārāj graces Panchālā, I will not each sweets, nor wear a pāgh.”
Muktānand Swāmi became concerned about Jhinābhāi’s reaction and hence says to Mahārāj, “Today, Jhinābhāi has become very upset…”
