Loya-10: Remaining Uninfatuated

Nirupan

June 3, 1962, Mumbai. During the Sunday assembly in Rāmbaug, Yogiji Mahārāj said, “It is not easy to know and understand the form of God. One needs to become immersed in his form. If a stack of 50,000 notes (money) dropped from above, how elated would we be! If we understand the greatness in this way and think: Kyā Rājā Bhoj ane kyā Gāngo Teli? (How does Gāgno Teli (a simpleton) compare to a great king like Bhoj; i.e. We are insignificant compared to God.) We do not feel that elation because we perceive human traits [in God and the Sant]. If we keep divinity, then we will feel constant elation. According to Loyā 10, we have this knowledge, so that elation or attainment or zeal should not fade; even if you have millet bread and buttermilk to eat.”

[Brahmaswarup Yogiji Mahārāj: 3/350]

January 20, 1964, Mumbai. At 8:20am while explaining Loyā 10, Yogiji Mahārāj said, “This is the Vachanāmrut of blissful knowledge. If one perfects it, one will derive abundant happiness.

“First we develop an aversion [to the sense pleasures (panch-vishays)]. And we contemplate on that. Then flaws in the sense pleasures become firm. Ultimately, these flaws [in the sense pleasures] are acknowledged by the jiva. Try to take two spoonfuls of dudhpāk having just vomited it. Therefore, we should see flaws in the panch-vishays, but we should not see flaws in devotees.

“Someone who is detached from his body does not get angry even if one swears at him. One who is detached from his body believes the guru is his ātmā.”

One sādhu then asked a question, “Swāmi! After having met a Purush like you, why do we still not see flaws in the sense pleasures?”

Swāmishri replied, “We are not able to attach ourselves [to the Sadhu]. We have met a guru like Shāstriji Mahārāj - we should firmly attach to him. We should become one with him. What we see is: the guru is present but the devotee is sleeping elsewhere! One should not lapse the slightest in obeying [the guru’s] wishes. Shāstriji Mahārāj never disobeyed Bhagatji Mahārāj’s āgnā; so he attained the same state as Bhagatji Mahārāj. It does not matter if he is 200,000 miles away, if he does not see flaws, then he is attached...

“In this country, everyone faces Satya, Dwāpar, Tretā and Kali-yug throughout the day.”

Chandubhāi asked, “Is there a solution whereby Satya-yug would prevail forever?”

Making a gesture with his eyes and hands, Swāmishri responded, “By staying in the company of such a Sant and listening to talks of strength. ‘The worldly affairs and relationships (sansār) are like a camel’s hump and is full of misery.’ If one is able to retract their mind from this and one does not become immersed in it, and one does not succumb to fault-finding, then it is Satya-yug eternally.”

[Brahmaswarup Yogiji Mahārāj: 3/580]

Yogiji Mahārāj said, “What is spiritual knowledge (gnān)? That of ātmā and Paramātmā. One who lacks this knowledge will be affected by adverse circumstances. If the Sadhu does not call us, we should think positively and regard the Sadhu as a deity. Do deities call us? King Janak was wise. If he was in the forest, he felt like he was in his kingdom and when he was in his kingdom, he felt like he was in the forest. Vachanāmrut Loyā 10 is very important in this regard. When one attains spiritual knowledge, one will never perceive faults in anyone. Until one attains the spiritual knowledge of ātmā-Paramātmā, he is not a true satsangi.”

[Yogi Vāni: 24/247]
