Gadhada I-20: An Ignorant Person; Seeing One’s Own Self

Nirupan

January, 1964. In the morning discourse, Yogiji Mahārāj explained Vachanāmrut Gadhadā I-20, “We have acquired the chintāmani, yet why are we still poor? One who has the association of a Satpurush does not remain aloof. One who has not recognized the Motā-Purush is ignorant. One who perceives human traits is extremely ignorant. Gnāni is one who perceives divinity without any doubts. One who never perceives human trains throughout one’s life is extraordinarily gnāni.

“Gunātitānand Swāmi was sitting in the assembly. The discourse was about recognizing him. But how can they understand that? One tries to realize their jivātmā but the manifest Gunātit is sitting there - Mahārāj spoke about recognizing him. If one understood that ‘the Gunātit is my ātmā’, then one would not be called ‘senseless’. One who believes the Satpurush is true will believe this talk. Instead, everyone wants to see extraordinary miracles.”

Swāmishri traveled back in time and talked about recognizing Gunātitānand Swāmi, who was present in the assembly. Swāmishri was witness to the incident (of this Vachanāmrut) and he is the one speaking today - in this way, he showed his oneness with Gunātitānand Swāmi.

In the same Vachanāmrut, the words “What does it mean to see your form?” were read. Swāmishri explained, “One should become one with that form (Gunātit).”

He then asked, “What is the glory of God? Greatness (mahimā). Light also means mahimā.

“The jivātmā succumbs to māyā. If it connects with Brahma, then it becomes brahmarup and transcends māyā.”

[Brahmaswarup Yogiji Mahārāj: 3/571]

Pramukh Swāmi Mahārāj spoke on Vachanāmrut Gadhadā I-20, “One should realize their true form is the ātmā. According to Vartāl 11, intense love for the Satpurush is the means to realize one’s ātmā. Believing the Satpurush is one’s form, develop ātmabuddhi and love for him. When one believes the Satpurush is one’s ātmā, then one will have the darshan of God.”

[Sanjivani: 1/70]

Anything Can Be Accomplished If One Tries

Pramukh Swami Maharaj arrived in Sarangpur on July 14. In the afternoon, Swamishri spoke on Vachanamrut Gadhada I-20:

“One’s form is brahma means Satpurush [is one’s form]. The talk here is about seeing that form. Otherwise, there is only darkness in one’s own form. Even if one’s form is dirty, everything is washed away with clean water. Similarly, as one sees the Satpurush, one becomes enlightened. Even if one sees bones and flesh, that [Satpurush] is what one needs to see. Everything is in him. If one has imbibed satsang, meaning that if one has recognized the Satpurush, then seeing his own form is in his own hands. One should desire to see their form - so one should follow his commands. If one does nothing believing that they cannot do anything themselves, then he certainly cannot do anything. In Shrijipura, the land grew wild plants. However, it was ploughed and improved, so now there is good crop growing. We should not look at ourselves but look at who we have attained. They decided to go to the moon so they achieved that goal. Therefore, if one tries, then it can be achieved.”

[Brahmaswarup Pramukh Swami Maharaj: Part 4/423]
