Gadhada III-7: An Iron Nail

Prasang

August 18, 1956. Yogiji Mahārāj said, “There was a devotee named Dāmodar Bhakta from Kunkāvāv. He caused a disruption during the reading Vachanāmrut Gadhada III-7. Gilā Bhakta (who had met Shriji Mahārāj and possessed a constant vision of Mahārāj) was present in the assembly. He said, ‘Since there was a disruption in the reading, Mahārāj and Swāmi left.’ Undoubtedly, Mahārāj and Swāmi are always present during kathā, and we should respect their presence by maintaining silence.”

તા. ૧૮/૮/૧૯૫૬, શનિવારના રોજ આ વચનામૃત સાથે સંલગ્ન એક વાત કરતાં યોગીજી મહારાજ કહે, “કુંકાવાવના દામોદર ભક્ત હતા. તેમણે સભામાં છેલ્લાનું ૭મું વચનામૃત વાંચવામાં કાંઈ ગડબડાટ કર્યો. ત્યાં સભામાં મહારાજના મળેલા ગીલા ભક્ત કે જે નિરાવરણ દૃષ્ટિવાળા હતા તે બેઠેલા. તે કહે, ‘કથા વાંચવામાં ગરબડાટ કર્યો ને મહારાજ, સ્વામી ચાલ્યા ગયા.’ માટે કથામાં મહારાજ, સ્વામી, સંતો પ્રગટ બિરાજતા હોય તો તેમની મર્યાદા રાખી, સભામાં શાંતિ રાખવી.”

Keeps Complete Affection Toward Devotees

May 24, 1979, Sankari. After morning puja, Pramukh Swami Maharaj spoke from Vachanamrut Gadhada III-7 about maintaining loyalty toward devotees. In his discourse, Swamishri talked in detail how he tumbled three times in an attempt to save another satsangi. Regarding this incident, a parshad said, “Bapa, the devotee you loyally saved actually speak ill of you!”

“Do not look at that!” Swamishri immediately countered. Then, he continued, “He is still a devotee. Therefore, maintain loyalty toward him.”

Pure sentiments flowed from these words and drenched everyone present. Swamishri maintained complete affection toward devotees while overlooking their base natures.

હરિભક્તસું રાખત પૂરન પ્યાર

તા. ૨૪/૫/૧૯૭૯, સાંકરી. પ્રાતઃપૂજા બાદ આરંભાયેલી કથામાં પ્રમુખસ્વામી મહારાજ વચનામૃત(ગઢડા અંત્ય ૭)ના નિરૂપણ દરમ્યાન ભક્તનો પક્ષ રાખવાની અદ્‌ભુત વાતો કરવા લાગ્યા. તેમાં એક સત્સંગીને બચાવવા જતાં પોતે ત્રણ ગોળમટાં ખાઈ ગયેલાં તે પ્રસંગ પણ તેઓએ વિસ્તારથી કહ્યો. તેના અનુસંધાનમાં એક પાર્ષદે કહ્યું, “બાપા! આપે જે ભક્તને પક્ષ રાખી બચાવ્યા તે તો આપણું વાંકું બોલે છે!”

“તે આપણે જોવું નહીં.” સ્વામીશ્રીએ તરત જ પાળ બાંધતાં કહ્યું. પછી બોલ્યા, “તે હરિભક્ત તો છે જ ને! માટે આપણે તો પક્ષ રાખવો.”

આ શબ્દોમાંથી ઊડી રહેલી સ્વામીશ્રીની શુદ્ધ ભાવનાની છોળ્યોમાં સૌ તરબોળ થઈ ગયા. ‘હરિભક્તસું રાખત પૂરન પ્યાર...’ સમા તેઓએ કોઈનાય સ્વભાવ સામે જોયા વિના સૌને પ્રેમ પાયેલો.

A Sant That is Greater than One’s Loved Ones

Tororo, Uganda. February 25, 1970. In the afternoon, Yogiji Maharaj was eating fruits that had been offered to Thakorji. The swami were sitting around Swamishri. Swamishri said to them, “Here, eat this prasadi.”

“Bapa, we will eat it later,” they said with the intent that Swamishri eats the fruits himself instead of distributing to others as he usually did.

“But what I give you is considered prasadi - its merit is special.” Swamishri answered in a way no one could argue.

One devotee then asked, “Bapa, are you not afraid of asking someone to give up their son to become a sadhu?”

“You probably do not know, but Shastriji Maharaj used to say I would even make the son of a king a sadhu!” Swamishri said showing his equality with his guru.

“The devotees would be hurt though (losing their son)...”

“Why would they be? If they love their son, do they not love us? Just read Vachanamrut Gadhada III-7. One should keep greater love for the Sant compared to one’s loved ones. Only Bhagwan and the Sant should be dear. If they ask for something, one should give it by explaining it. One should give their son by giving him understanding. They (sons) need someone to encourage them. We are the ones who will change their mind. If the parents tell their son ‘Please Swami (by becoming a sadhu). It is worth it’ then we will give him strength.”

સગાં-સંબંધી કરતાં અધિક સંત

ટરોરો, તા. ૨૫-૨-૧૯૭૦. બપોરે સ્વામીશ્રી ઠાકોરજીનો મેવો – ફળનો પ્રસાદ જમતા હતા. સંતો સ્વામીશ્રીને વીંટળાઈને બેઠા હતા. તેમને સંબોધતાં સ્વામીશ્રી બોલ્યા, “લ્યો, આ પ્રસાદી.”

“બાપા, પછી અમે લઈ લઈશું,” એમ કરી સંતોએ યોગીજી મહારાજને જમવાનો આગ્રહ કર્યો. કારણ સ્વામીશ્રી હમેશાં આ રીતે ફ્રૂટ વગેરે જે પ્રસાદ હોય એ બધાને વહેંચી દેતા. પણ પોતે જમવાનું ટાળતા.

“એમ ન હાલે. હું આપું તે પ્રસાદી ગણાય, તેનું ફળ જુદું.” સ્વામીશ્રીએ એવો તો જવાબ વાળ્યો કે કોઈ સામે દલીલ કરી શકે નહિ.

ભોળા જણાતા સ્વામીશ્રીની બોલવાની ચતુરાઈ એવી હતી કે સામાની વાણી જ બંધ થઈ જાય. એમના વિધાનમાં યુક્તિ હતી, અને એ યુક્તિ સૌને ભગવાનમાં જોડવા માટે જ હતી.

“બાપા, તમને સત્સંગીના દીકરાને સાધુ બનાવવા માંગતા બીક નથી લાગતી?” એક ભક્તે પૂછ્યું.

“તમને ખબર નથી. શાસ્ત્રીજી મહારાજ કહેતા કે રાજાનો કુંવર હોય તેનેય હું મુંડી નાંખું.” સ્વામીશ્રીએ ગુરુના વચનનું સમર્થન આપ્યું.

“બાપા, મા-બાપને તો દુઃખ થાય ને...”

“શા માટે થાય? એને દીકરામાં હેત છે તો અમારામાં હેત નથી? કાઢો છેલ્લાનું સાતમું. સગાં-સંબંધી કરતાં અધિક સંતને વ્હાલા રાખવા. સંત અને ભગવાન એ બે જ વ્હાલા. એ માગે તે તરત સમજાવી કરીને દઈ દેવું. દીકરાને સમજાવીને અર્પણ કરી દેવો. તેને પુષ્ટિ કરનાર જોઈએ. મન ફેરવનાર અમે છીએ. ‘જા, સ્વામીને રાજી કર. રાજીપો લીધા જેવો છે.’ એમ મા-બાપ કહે, તો આપણે બળ કરીએ.”

અસંખ્ય જીવો જ્યારે પ્રલય અગ્નિમાં નિત્ય હોમાય છે ત્યારે ગુણાતીત યજ્ઞમાં આહુતિ આપી, ગુણાતીતરૂપ થવાનું સૌભાગ્ય પ્રાપ્ત કરી, જીવનને સાર્થક બનાવવાનું, ગુણાતીત સંત સિવાય સમજાવવાની કોણ હિંમત કરી શકે? જેના હૃદયમાં જગત નથી, માયા નથી, પ્રપંચ નથી, એ જ આવું કહી શકે. બીજાની છાતી જ બેસી જાય.
