Loya-10: Remaining Uninfatuated
Summary
- The vrutti [toward vishays] becomes mild, intermediate, or intense depending on whether the indriyas, man, and the jiva unite in the vrutti toward the vishays.
- One develops affection for God by seeking favourable circumstances [deshkāl – the 8 factors of influence].
- The means to not becoming disturbed [overcoming inappropriate thoughts]:
- Firm understanding of the flaws in the vishays.
- Gnān of ātmā and Paramātmā.
- In an elevated state of gnān:
- One is devoid of a deep attachment to vishays and the mind does not become disturbed [have thoughts of enjoying vishays].
- One remains absolutely carefree in his own bliss.
- One feels equanimity in honour and insult.
- His vision becomes broad, in which he believes all worldly objects to be vain.
- One who has not achieved this elevated state of gnān but has intense faith in God and the Sant, he becomes blissful just like a gnāni.
- For one who has faith coupled with knowledge of his greatness, māyā is not a cause of misery but a cause of bliss, because his indriyas and antahkaran nourish his devotion.
