Gadhada II-18: Nāstiks and Shushka-Vedāntis
Summary
- A person who has committed any of the five grave sins can be redeemed at some point in time. However, one who has accepted either the beliefs of nāstiks or shushka-Vedāntis will never be redeemed.
- Beliefs nāstiks:
- They do not believe God is the all-doer, master of all, redeemer of sinners, and uplifter of the wretched.
- They believe their liberation is through their karmas.
- Their understanding is not in accordance with the Vedas, Shāstras, and Purāns.
- Beliefs of shushka-Vedāntis:
- I am God because God Himself assumes the form of the jiva.
- They do not engage in any spiritual endeavour or worship God.
- True gnāni:
- Engage in meditation of God, chanting His holy name, singing devotions songs, etc.
- Even though they are powerful, they remain as servants of God.
- There is no deed greater than keeping the company of the Satpurush, conversely, there is no sin graver than keeping the company of ignorant people such as the shushka-Vedāntis.
