Gadhada II-21: The Main Principle
Summary
- The essence of all the scriptures:
- The fruit of observing the dharma of one’s caste and āshram is only this: dharma, artha, kām, worldly reputation, and physical comforts.
- For the purpose of liberation, one should realise God to be the all-doer.
- Just as one understands the greatness of the past avatārs of God and His bhaktas, if one understands the greatness of the manifest God and His Bhakta, then he has nothing remaining to understand on the path of liberation.
- God, as the giver of the fruits of one’s karmas, creates the experiences in the dreams of the jivas and ishwars as according to their karmas.
- The understanding of a gnāni:
- The influence of place, time, etc. is predominant only when and where there is the predominance of place, time etc.
- God lets the predominance of place, time, etc. prevail as long as He allows; but they cannot do anything against His wish.
