Gadhada III-7: An Iron Nail
Summary
- God and His Sādhu:
- Nothing in this world is more blissful than them.
- One should profoundly attach one’s self to them.
- One should remain absolutely loyal to them.
- One should not develop an aversion to them.
- One should not have as much affection towards one’s body or bodily relations as one has towards them.
- For a devotee who behaves in this manner [as described in 1a-1e], even extremely powerful enemies such lust, anger, etc., are unable to defeat him.
- In God’s abode Akshardhām:
- God possesses a definite form.
- Devotees of God, who also possess a form, remain in His service.
- Devotees who have taken firm refuge in the manifest form of God:
- Just as an iron nail that is firmly affixed to an iron surface can never be separated, similarly, their mind should be fixed firmly at the holy feet of God.
- They does not have to die to attain the abode of God - they have attained it while still alive.
- They attain God’s abode after they discard their physical body.
- They should not harbour the following fear in one’s mind: ‘What if I become a ghost or an evil spirit, or attain the realm of Indra or the realm of Brahmā after I die?’
