Gadhada I-24: The Elevated Spiritual State of Gnān; ‘Sourness’ in the Form of the Understanding of God’s Greatness

Summary

  1. Elevated state of gnān:
  1. Is when Prakruti-Purush and the entities evolved from them do not come into view, also known as gnān-pralay.
  2. Is attained by constantly maintaining one’s vrutti on the manifest form of God.
  1. By understanding the greatness of God:
  1. Vicious thoughts cease.
  2. Just as when one has sucked many lemons, he would be unable to chew even cooked rice; in the same manner, when one has developed ‘sourness’ in the form of faith in God and an understanding of His greatness, one becomes incapable of chewing the vishays of the respective indriyas and antahkaran.
  1. If a person realises God to be absolutely flawless, he himself becomes absolutely flawless.
  2. Whatever types of flaws a person attributes to God will ultimately cause misery to the person himself.
  3. Means to feeling one is completely fulfilled:
  1. Believing one is extremely fortunate that:
  1. The incarnate form of Purushottam has compassionately revealed His own form to me.
  2. He has freed me from lust, anger and all of the other vicious natures.
  3. He has placed me in the company of sādhus.
  1. Contemplating on the attainment of the manifest God.
  2. When a fault is noticed in a devotee, thinking that he has attained satsang, and with this understanding, highly appreciating their virtues.
  1. The following are major deficiencies of a devotee of God:
  1. Not contemplating on their great fortunate and feeling fulfilled, despite understanding the greatness of God.
  2. Not remaining extremely elated throughout the day.
