Gadhada III-25: Pleasing Shriji Mahārāj; A True Devotee of God
Summary
- When performing God-related activities, one should desire the fruit in the form of pleasing God.
- A staunch devotee never falls back from his upāsanā, bhakti, niyams, dharma; but becomes better, no matter the extent of joy or misery he faces.
- Shriji Mahārāj speaks of His likes and dislikes to show the ideals of a devotee:
- When speaking to God, Mahārāj dislikes one who speaks without discretion [i.e. speaks inconsistently, coarsely, interrupts, etc.].
- Dislikes one who is lazy, does not feel shame, or is egotistic when performing God-related activities.
- Dislikes when one looks elsewhere while doing darshan of God.
- Dislikes one who is deceitful.
- Dislikes egotism, anger, and remaining suppressed by others.
- Dislikes devotees viewing each other as equal [not giving respect to others appropriately].
- Likes female devotees who behave chastely [keep their gaze downward, cover their bodies, etc.]
