Gadhada I-37: Attachment to One’s Native Place; Eleven Honors
Summary
- Methods of abandoning affection for one’s birthplace:
- Believe one’s self to be the ātmā.
- View the relationships of the current body to be similar to the relationships of previous births.
- Just as the parents of the previous births have been forgotten due to ignorance, similarly the parents of this human body should be forgotten through knowledge.
- Shriji Mahārāj speak of his nature for the sake of revealing the ideals of a devotee:
- He has no affection toward any of His relatives.
- Even if he is as virtuous as Nāradji, if he lacks bhakti for God, He does not like him.
- For a person who has bhakti for God in his heart, understands God to be sākār and all-doer, Shriji Mahārāj bestows him 11 honours:
- He is dear to Mahārāj.
- Kāl is unable to administer its power over him.
- Karma is unable to administer its power over him.
- Māyā is unable to administer its power over him.
- Mahārāj places the dust of his feet on His head.
- Mahārāj is afraid of harming him.
- Mahārāj longs for his darshan.
- He is wise because he wishes for liberation through the grace of God.
- After leaving his body, he attain a form of chaitanya in the abode of God and forever remain in His service.
- The darshan of such a true Bhakta of God is equivalent to the darshan of God Himself.
- He is so great that his darshan alone can redeem countless wretched jivas.
