Gadhada I-65: ‘Gnān-shakti’, ‘Kriyā-shakti’ and ‘Ichchhā-shakti’

Summary

  1. The ākāsh that is one of the panch-bhuts is subject to creation and destruction; whereas, Chidākāsh, which is the supporter of all, is not subject to creation or destruction.
  2. The arrangement of the body and the brahmānd is similar.
  3. Whatever state [wakeful, dream, or deep sleep] one is in when one attains samādhi, that state is dissolved first.
  4. God possesses gnān-shakti [cognition], kriyā-shakti [conation], and ichchhā-shakti [volition]:
  1. Gnān-shakti: when the jiva enters the state of deep sleep and has no gnān, God awakens it and makes it aware of its actions.
  2. Kriyā-shakti: whatever action a jiva engages in, it does so with the support of God’s kriyā-shakti.
  3. Ichchhā-shakti: whatever object a jiva desires, it acquires with the help of God’s ichchhā-shakti.
  1. A jiva cannot indulge in the fruits of its karmas according to its own will or as a direct consequence of its karmas. When God, who grants the fruits of karmas, allows it to indulge in the fruits of the karmas of that particular state that it is able to indulge in them.
