Gadhada I-77: Not Invalidating Dharma under the Pretext of Gnan

Summary

  1. Whoever forsakes dharma - in the form of the five religious vows - solely advocating the strength of bhakti or gnān, is a blasphemer of the guru and guru’s word.
  2. A person who has faith in God acquires the redemptive virtues of God and the 30 attributes of a sādhu, and he is considered a true sādhu.
  3. The fate of a non-believer and a devotee of God at the end of life:
  1. Even if a non-believer dies in a pleasant way, he will go to narak.
  2. A devotee of God, whether he dies while walking or talking, while babbling incoherently, while silently, or while suffering, will go to the abode of God.
  3. If one dies while thoroughly realising one’s jivātmā as transcending the three states and as being brahmarup, one passes away displaying all the powers of God.
