Sarangpur-1: Conquering the Mind
Summary
- Characteristics of one who has conquered the mind:
- One who has no desires to indulge in the vishays.
- One who has shunned the panchvishays with absolute resolution.
- Means to defeat the desire for vishays:
- Ātmā-realization: Subduing the affection for vishays with the understanding that one’s ātmā is distinct from the physical body.
- Understanding the glory of God in this manner:
- This manifest God is master of all [the realms of the deities and abodes such as Golok, Vaikunth, etc.] and forever resides in my ātmā.
- The bliss from the darshan of God for the slightest second is greater than the pleasure derived from vishays of countless millions of brahmānds.
- The realms of the other deities are like narak compared to the Akshardhām of God.
- If one renounces vishays without this understanding, then he will develop affection for the vishays in adverse circumstances [i.e. when he encounters an alluring vishay].
