Loya-17: Reverence and Condemnation

Nirupan

December 1959, Tabora, Tanzania. A devotee asked, “Why does one who was the best of the best initially and instilled faith in others change for the worse?”

Yogiji Mahārāj replied, “He reached an unfavorable layer. While doing satsang, seven layers are encountered. A layer of perceiving human traits, a layer of divinity, a layer of the ekāntik state; like that. He behaves according to the layer that comes and goes. When he first comes to Satsang, he maintains divinity and everything is perceived as divine. But after staying together for a long period and he observes the actions [of the Sant] at a critical time, he perceives human traits. Therefore, ‘The Sant behaves in a gunātit state in all his actions. He does everything to [help us] perfect ekāntik dharma. It is not worth perceiving human traits in him.’ - if these thoughts remain, then nirdosh-buddhi [in the Sant] remains constantly.”

[Brahmaswarup Yogiji Mahārāj: 3/25]
