Gadhada I-27: The Understanding by which God Eternally Resides within One

Nirupan

December 13, 1961. Yogiji Maharaj clearly explained a very important Vachanamrut – Gadhadā I-27 – during the morning discourse. He clarified the greatness of the manifest Satpurush and immersed everyone in the extraordinary bliss of his attainment.

Swamishri said, “If we have this understanding that - we live together with that Bhagwan whose will prevails – if this conviction is lodged in our jiva, then our mind will never separate from him. Even if he kicks us out, one would think, ‘How can the Satpurush be pleased with me?’ But no other thought would arise. The mind should be rebuked: ‘Wretched mind! You will have to experience the misery of 8.4 millions births.’

“[What is] the state of understanding? As firm as a knot of a silk thread that has a drop of oil applied to it (the knot cannot be undone). Where he goes, Bhagwan’s murti follows. A woman’s body appears attractive; but inside, it is all flesh. Sura Khachar was shown the form of the ear and he vomited. The buildings are all made of clay. ‘Gold is worse than rocks’ – when one acquires this type of gnān, Bhagwan resides in one’s heart totally.

“...To tolerate ego and insult is a great power. The Peshwa of Amdavad plotted to boil Maharaj in a vat of hot oil. Devanand Swami said, ‘I will drown Amdavad in the ocean.’ Maharaj said, ‘We have to tolerate.’ In six months, the Peshwa rule came to an end. No one can tolerate when they are powerful. The king of Hindustan would not tolerate. We are greater than him since we tolerate.

“This is not about making the blind see; but giving them (jivas) the power to see Bhagwan and the Sant through their eyes; he loses interest in looking at the bazaar or buildings – that is the power Maharaj mentions. This is not about making the lame walk, but about giving the able-bodied the power to walk to a mandir.

“Bhagwan resides in every indriya of the Sant. Greatness is tolerating berating words when one possesses worldly greatness. Greatness is not sitting on a high position. ‘Insignificant jivas’ means those that have no understanding…

“Even the wretched can be liberated. Therefore, ‘noble virtues of the Sant previously described’ – what virtues of a Sant (is Maharaj mentioning here)? That virtue is of tolerating. However, they (those who do not tolerate) do not acquire the noble virtues of the Sant. If we quarrel, do not observe discipline, then we do not leave an impression on anyone. We should tolerate everyone, then virtues will come. The milk of a lioness can only be held in a golden vessel. We have to become a vessel (become worthy) to acquire the virtues of the Great Sant.

“Look, he said ‘Jai Sachchidanand.’ Sachchidanand means Aksharbrahma.”
