કીર્તન મુક્તાવલી
નિરૂપણ
(૧) તારે માથે નગારાં વાગે મોતનાં રે
તા. ૨૭/૪/૧૯૮૧, અટલાદરા.
અટલાદરામાં ચાલી રહેલી રાત્રિસભામાં ‘તારે માથે નગારાં વાગે મોતનાં રે...’ કીર્તન ગવાતું હતું. તે સાંભળતાં જ સ્વામીશ્રીએ વાત ઉપાડી કે:
“એક બાજુ લગ્ન ને બીજી બાજુ આ વૈરાગ્યનાં પદ! મહારાજે એવી ગોઠવણ કરી છે કે માયાનો ફેર ચડે જ નહીં. નોળિયો અને સાપ લડે છે ત્યારે નોળિયો થાકે ને ઝેર ચડી જાય એટલે નોળવેલ સૂંઘી આવે ને વળી પાછો સાપ સાથે લડે. તેમ આખો દિવસ વ્યવહાર કરીને માણસ સાંજે મંદિરે જાય એટલે સંતો વિષયખંડનની વાતો કરે, એટલે તેને સંસારનું ઝેર ઊતરી જાય. બીજે ભગવાન ભુલાઈ જાય અને અહીં જગત ભુલાઈ જાય છે.
“ઘરને સાફ ન કરીએ તો કચરો ચડી જાય. તેમ સંતોના શબ્દો સાંભળતા રહીએ તો વૃત્તિ પાછી વળે. પંચવિષયમાંથી આસક્તિ ટળતી જાય. પોચું દોરડું કઠણ પથ્થરે પણ કાપો પાડે છે, તેમ રોજ સત્સંગ હોય તો કઠણ હૈયાને પણ કાપો પડે. જીવ સુખિયો થાય તે માટે કથાવાર્તા. સૂર્ય ચાલતો દેખાય નહીં, છતાં ચાલે છે. વેલ વધતી દેખાતી નથી, પણ વધે છે. તેમ સમાગમથી અંદર પરિવર્તન થાય છે. અજ્ઞાન ચાલ્યું જાય છે. સંત સાથે અંતરાય રાખીએ તો પરિવર્તન ન થાય. ચિનાઈ કાગળ જેટલુંય અંતર ન ચાલે.”

Nirupan
(1) Tāre māthe nagārā vāge motnā re
April 27, 1981. Atladra.
During an assembly at night, the kirtan ‘Tāre māthe nagārā vāge motnāre...’ was being sung. Picking up the words, Pramukh Swami Maharaj spoke:
“On the one hand, there is a marriage and on the other hand, verse of renunciation [are being sung]. Maharaj has arranged it so that one is not affected by māyā. When a mongoose and a cobra fight, the mongoose gets bit by the poison of the cobra. The tired mongoose feels the effects of the poison, so it goes to smell the nolvel plant and comes back to fight the cobra again. Similarly, [we] engage in our social duties all day, and we come to the Sant at night who denounces the material pleasures. Therefore, the poison of the world diminishes. Elsewhere, one forgets God. Here, one forgets the world.
“If one does not clean their house, the dirt piles up. If one continues to listen to the words of the Sant, then one’s inclination [to enjoy the pleasures] subsides. One’s desires for the sense pleasures is destroyed. A soft rope can make a cut into a stone [over time]. Similarly, if one practices satsang daily, then it can cut through the hardest of hearts. Listening to discourses is for the jiva to become happy. One cannot see the sun travel across the sky; yet it does travel. One cannot see the vine grow; yet it grows. Similarly, by association [of the Sant], one is transformed from within. One is rid of their ignorance. If one keeps a distance from the Sant, then one will not be transformed. Even a distance equal to a thin paper will not do.”
