Translation

(1) Bhavsāgarmā bhakti Harinī ugarvāno āro jī

Narayandas

Bhavsāgarmā bhakti Harinī, ugarvāno āro jī;

In this world, which is an ocean of misery, devotion to God is the shore that saves you.

 E vinā upādhi bījī, veṭh tarīke dhāro jī... 1

Other than that, consider everything else to be troublesome (and a burden).

Svapnānī samrūddhī sarve, svapnā sāthe jāshe jī;

The wealth one gains in a dream will be swept away in the dream.

 Jāgyā pachhī kāī maḷe nahi, ekey vastu pāse jī... 2

After one wakes up, one cannot find that wealth.

Janmyā pahelā jagat nahotu, mūvā pāchhaḷ nathī jī;

Before being born, the world did not exist, and after one dies, it will not exist.

[The world actually exists. The purport of this is that one’s state in their current life did not exist prior to birth and will not exist after death. The situation changes in each birth and no one’s disposition remains permanent.]

 Vachmā vaḷgyu jūṭhā jevu, kavī kahe chhe kathī jī... 3

Whatever one became attached to in the midst (of birth and death) is false - this is what the poets proclaims.

Māyāno prapanch rachyo chhe, khel khalakno khoṭo jī;

All of this is the creation of māyā, and the ‘game’ of this world is false.

 Dās Nārāyaṇ Hari bhajīne, lābh karī lyo moṭo jī... 4

Narayandas says, “Worship God and earn the greatest benefit of this birth.”
