કીર્તન મુક્તાવલી
Translation
(1) Vairāgya vīte re vāṇī vade
This verse is about one who has lost his vairāgya after initially renouncing. He preaches disingenuously only to fulfill his bodily desires.
Vairāgya vīte re vāṇī vade, loko samje nahi leshjī;
When one without vairāgya speaks, no one comprehends even slightly [the intention of the speaker].
Moṭā santnī sevā kyā maḷe, em āpe upadeshjī... Vairāgya 1
“Where can one find the service of a great sant?” One preaches this way.
Tan dhan vasan vaḍe, sevā sādhunī kījejī;
One should serve a sadhu through their body, money, and clothes.
Vidh-vidhanā vyanjan shu, rūḍī rasoīyu dījejī... Vairāgya 2
They should give various types of foods.
Āge sādhune arpiyā, sut vitta ghar ne bārjī;
In the past, people gave sadhus their son, wealth, house, etc.
Evā bhakta lakhāṇā bhakta māḷmā, dekhyā dalnā udārjī... Vairāgya 3
Such devotees have been written on the pages of history (i.e. scriptures); they were generous in their heart.
Āj sādhune āpatā, kā re munzāya manjī;
So why do you hesitate giving this sadhu anything?
Sut kalatrane kāraṇe, dhroḍī kharacho chho dhanjī... Vairāgya 4
For the sake of your son and wife, you spend money freely.
Ame re tyāgī sarave tyāgiyu, tyāgyā rāj ne pāṭajī;
We renounced everything; we renounced our kingdom and cities...
Tamārā kalyāṇne kāraṇe, sant batāve vāṭjī... Vairāgya 5
...for the sake of your liberation, the sant shows the way.
E vaṇasyā vairāganī vātaḍī, suṇo sau nar-nārjī;
This is the talk of one whose vairāgya has spoiled. Listen to this, all men and women.
Niṣhkuḷānand e narnu, kem paḍashe pārjī... Vairāgya 6
Nishkulanand Swami says how can such a one attain liberation?
