(1) Terī sharanme āy ke fir āsh kiskī kījie
Terī sharanme āy ke fir, āsh kiskī kījie...
Having taken your refuge, why should one seek the refuge of another?
Nahī dekh paḍtā hai mujhe, duniyā me terī shān kā;
I cannot find a similar grandeur anywhere else in the world.
Gangā kināre baiṭhke, kyu kūp kā jal pījie... terī 1
Why should one drink water from a well while sitting on the banks of Ganga?
Hargījh nahi lāyak hu mai, garje tere darbār kā;
I do not deserve anything and am unworthy. I am at your mercy (in your court).
Merī khatā ko māf kar, didār apnā dījie... terī 2
Forgive all my misdeeds and show me mercy.
Patit-pāvan nām sunke, mai sharan terī paḍā;
I came to your refuge hearing that you are the uplifter of sinners.
Sufal kar īs nām ko, apnā mujhe kar lījie... terī 3
Live up to that name and make me yours.
Miltā hai Brahmānand mujhe, jis ke nām lene se sahi;
By taking your name, I experience the bliss of Brahman.
Aise Prabhu ko chhoḍ kar, fir kaun se het kījie... terī 4
Why should one forsake God and love another?
