પદ - ૪૯

સુંદર સારી શિખામણ મારી, માની લે મનવા મારા રે;

ધારી વિચારી મેં વાત ઉચ્ચારી, તે જોઈ સ્વભાવ તારા રે... ૧

પરને કહેવા પ્રવીણ છો પૂરો, પોતાનું તો તું ન પેખે રે;

સામાને શીખ દેવામાં છો શૂરો, નિજ દોષને નવ દેખે રે... ૨

કાંયે ન સમજે કારજ તારું, કહું છું કાંયે નહિ થાય રે;

શીદને ઉતારે¹ છે પરબારું,² કાંરે ન મનાય કાંય રે... ૩

અવળી સમજણ અળગીએ કરી, સવળું સમજાય તો સારું રે;

નિષ્કુળાનંદ કહે વિચારી, એટલું માની લે મારું રે... ૪

પદ - ૫૦

મન તુંને સમજાવવા સારુ, કહ્યું મેં વારમવાર રે;

તેં તો ગમતું ન તજિયું તારું, ગઈ શિખામણ ગમાર રે... ૧

જે જે વાત કરી તુજ સાથે, તે તો તેં રતિ ન રાખી રે;

ખોટ્ય આવવા દીધી નહીં માથે, લઈ બીજા પર નાખી રે... ૨

કહો ખોટ્ય ટળે કેમ તારી, નિજ દોષને ન દેખે રે;

એથી ભૂલ બીજી કઈ ભારી, સહુથી સરસ આપ લેખે³ રે... ૩

કહેનારાને કહેવા ન રહ્યું, તેં ન ધર્યું જ્યારે કાન રે;

નિષ્કુળાનંદ કહે તુંને શિયું, તારે તો બીજું છે તાન રે... ૪

પદ - ૫૧

સમું⁴ સમજે શોધતાં એવા, જોતાં ઝાઝા નવ જડે રે;

જેને ન આવડે અવળું લેવા, વણતોળી⁵ વિપત્ય જો પડે રે... ૧

માન મોટપ ને મમતા મૂકે, ગમતું ગોવિંદનું જાણી રે;

ચોટ⁶ નિશાન⁷ ઉપરથી ન ચૂકે, પરલોકે પ્રતીતિ આણી રે... ૨

કોઈ કાળે જો કામ પોતાનું, વણસાડે⁸ નહિ વળી રે;

કપટ કેદીયે ન રાખે છાનું, મોટા સંતને મળી રે... ૩

એવા જન જગતમાં જાણો, ઘર ઘર ઘણા ન હોય રે;

નિષ્કુળાનંદ કહે પરમાણો, સાચા સંત કા’વે સોય રે... ૪

પદ - ૫૨

આ લોકની જેણે આશા તજી છે, પરલોકના સુખ સારુ રે;

તેણે કરી હરિભક્તિ રજી⁹ છે, સંસાર સુખ થયું ખારું રે... ૧

ચૌદ લોક ને ચતુરધા લગી, જગમાં જે જે કહેવાય રે;

સર્વે એ ઠેકાણે અગનિ સળગી, દેખે તપતાં ત્યાંય રે... ૨

ઠરવા¹⁰ ઠાઉકું¹¹ ઠામ¹² ન સૂઝે, કો’ સુખ કિયાં મનાય રે;

કાળ માયાથી સહુ રહ્યાં ધ્રૂજે, હરિનાં ચરણ વિનાય રે... ૩

એમ અહોનિશ અંતરમાંઈ, વરતે છે વૈરાગ્ય રે;

નિષ્કુળાનંદ કહે તેને કાંઈ, કઠણ નો’યે કરવું ત્યાગ રે... ૪

પદ - ૫૩

એવા જનની ઉપર હરિ, રાજી છે અક્ષર પતિ રે;

જેણે ભક્તિ ભાવે શું કરી, ફરે નહિ કેદી મતિ રે... ૧

શરીરનાં સુખ સર્વે ત્યાગી, બાંધી પ્રભુ સાથે પ્રીતિ રે;

જેની લગની લાલશું લાગી, તે તો ગયા જગ જીતી રે... ૨

કપટ રહિત શ્રીજીની સેવા, જાણજો જે જને કરી રે;

પ્રભુના પદને પામિયા એવા, આ ભવજળ ગયા તરી રે... ૩

તેમા સંશય લેશ મ લાવો, પૂરણ પ્રતીતિ આણો રે;

નિષ્કુળાનંદ કહે નિરદાવો,¹³ જેના જીવમાં જાણો રે... ૪

પદ - ૫૪

એવાને સંગેથી અક્ષરધામે, જવાય છે જો જરૂર રે;

બીજાને સંગે તો સુખ ન પામે, દુઃખ રહે ભરપૂર રે... ૧

જેને જાવું હોય જમને હાથે, દક્ષિણ દેશની¹⁴ માંય રે;

તે તો સુખે રહો કપટી સાથે, તેનું કહેતા નથી કાંય રે... ૨

પણ જાવું જેને પ્રભુજી પાસે, તેને કરવો તપાસ રે;

અંતરે બીજો તજવો આશે,¹⁵ થઈ રહેવું હરિદાસ રે... ૩

આવી વાત અંતરે ઉતારી, કરી લેવું નિજ કામ રે;

નિષ્કુળાનંદ કહે વિચારી, તો પામિયે અક્ષરધામ રે... ૪

પદ - ૫૫

જેહ ધામને પામીને પ્રાણી, પાછું પડવાનું નથી રે;

સર્વે પર છે સુખની ખાણી, કેવું કહીએ તેને કથી રે... ૧

અનંત મુક્ત જ્યાં આનંદે ભરિયા, રહે છે પ્રભુજીની પાસ રે;

સુખ સુખ જ્યાં સુખના દરિયા, તિયાં વસી રહ્યા વાસ રે... ૨

તેજ તેજ જિયાં તેજ અંબાર, તેજોમય તન તેનાં રે;

તેજોમય જ્યાં સર્વે આકાર, શું કહીએ સુખ એનાં રે... ૩

તે તેજ મધ્યે સિંહાસન શોભે, તિયાં બેઠા બહુનામી રે;

નિષ્કુળાનંદ કહે મન લોભે, પૂર્ણ પુરુષોત્તમ પામી રે... ૪

પદ - ૫૬

એવા ધામની આગળ બીજાં, શી ગણતીમાં ગણાય રે;

મા’પ્રલય¹⁶ કાળના અગ્નિમાં સીજાં,¹⁷ હંમેશ જેહ હણાય રે... ૧

પ્રકૃતિ પુરુષ પ્રલયમાં આવે, ભવ બ્રહ્મા ન રહે કોય રે;

ચૌદ લોક ધામ રે’વા ન પાવે, સર્વે સંહાર હોય રે... ૨

જેમ કડાયામાં¹⁸ કણ ઊછળે છે, ઊંચા નીચા અગ્નિ જ્વાળે રે;

તેમ જ તનધારી બળે છે, સ્વર્ગ મૃત્યુ ને પાતાળે રે... ૩

માટે સુખ નથી કિયાં માને, પ્રભુજીના પદ પખી¹⁹ રે;

નિષ્કુળાનંદ કે’ ભૂલે છે શાને, લે વાત આવી તું લખી²⁰ રે... ૪

Chosath Padi

Pad 49 - 56

Pad - 49

Sundar sārī shikhāmaṇ mārī, manī le manvā mārā re;

Dhārī vichārī me vāt uchchārī, te joī swabhāv tārā re. 1

(1) Oh, mind! Accept the good advice that I am giving you. I have spoken after much thought and noticing your (the mind’s) nature (swabhāv).

Parne kahevā pravīṇ chhu pūro, potānu to tu na pekhe re;

Sāmāne shīkh devāmā chhu shuro, nij doshne nav dekhe re. 2

(2) You are an expert in giving advice to others, but you never look at yourself. You are forthright giving advice to others, but you fail to see your own flaws.

Kāye na samje kāraj tārū, kahu chhu kāye nahi thāy re;

Shīdne utāre chhe parbāru, kāre na manāy kāy re. 3

(3) No one understands the purpose behind your actions. Whatever it is, though, it will not be fulfilled. Why do you not believe any of the advice that is given to you? Why do you dismiss it?

Avḷī samjaṇ aḷgīe karī, savḷu samjāy to sāru re;

Nishkuḷānand kahe vichārī, eṭalu manī le māru re. 4

(4) It would be good if you understand the correct way and discard the incorrect understanding. Nishkulanand Swami says, “You should at least understand this much.”

Pad - 50

Man tune samjāvvā sāru, kahyu me vāramvār re;

Te to gamtu na tajīyu tārū, gaī shikhāmaṇ gamār re... 1

(1) Oh, mind! I have repeatedly tried to make you understand. But, fool! You did not give up what you like (your ways) and my advice was wasted.

Je je vāt karī tuj sāthe, te to te rati na rākhī re;

Khoṭya āvvā na dīdhī māthe, laī bījā par nākhī re... 2

(2) You did not accept even slightly any of the talk I had with you. You did not allow any faults to apply to yourself. Instead, you placed the blame on others.

Kaho khoṭy ṭaḷe kem tārī, nij doshne na dekhe re;

Ethī bhul bījī kaī bhārī, sahuthī saras āp lekhe re... 3

(3) Tell me, how will your flaws be destroyed when you do not even look at your faults? What greater mistake can you make than believing yourself to be the best?

Kahenārāne kahevā na rahyu, te na dharyu jyāre kān re;

Nishkuḷānand kahe tune shīyu, tāre to bīju chhe tān re... 4

(4) Those who may give you advice have nothing left to say for you will not even listen to them. Nishkulanand Swami says what more is left to say as your intentions lie away from God.

Pad - 51

Samu samje shoḍhtā evā, jotā jhājhā nav jaḍe re;

Jene na āvḍe avḷu levā, vaṇtoḷī vipatya jo paḍe re... 1

(1) You cannot find many people who, in adverse circumstances, do not know how to understand incorrectly. (You cannot find many who can understand correctly even in adversity. Nishkulanand Swami states this as the inverse.)

Mān moṭap ne mamtā muke, gamtu Govindnu jāṇī re;

Choṭ nishān uparthī na chuke, parloke pratīti āṇī re... 2

(2) Such people discard ego, fame, and attachment to the world with the understanding that doing so will please God. After having developed a resolve to reach the abode of God, they do not lose focus of their goal.

Koī kāḷe jo kām potānu, vaṇsāḍe nahi vaḷī re;

Kapaṭ kedīye na rākhe chhānu, moṭā santne maḷī re... 3

(3) No matter what they do, they ensure that their mission - to reach the abode of God - does not fail. They are never deceitful and they hide nothing when they meet a great Sant.

Evā jan jagatmā jāṇo, ghar ghar ghaṇā na hoy re;

Nishkuḷānand kahe parmāṇo, sāchā sant kā’ve soy re... 4

(4) Know that, in this world, you cannot find many people with this understanding from house to house. Nishkulanand Swami says, “Recognize this to be a great Sant.” (i.e. One with the qualities mentioned here.)

Pad - 52

Ā loknī jeṇe āshā tajī chhe, parloknā sukh sāru re;

Tene karī haribhakti rajī chhe, sansār sukh thayu khāru re... 1

(1) He has no expectations of happiness from this world as his sight is set for the bliss of the abode of God. He spends his time in devotion to God as worldly happiness has become sour (undesirable).

Chaud lok ne chaturdhā lagī, jagmā je je kahevāy re;

Sarve ṭhekāṇe agnī saḷgī, dekhe taptā tyāy re... 2

(2) He sees everything up to the 14 realms and four types of mukti burning in flames (i.e. he has no attraction towards them or any desire to attain them).

Ṭharvā ṭhāuku ṭhām na sūjhe, kaho sukh kiyā manāy re;

Kāḷ mayāthī sahu rahyā dhrūje, Harinā charaṇ vināy re... 3

(3) He cannot think of a better place to stay. Where else is there happiness? All those who are not at God’s refuge are in constant fear of kāl and māyā.

Em ahonish antarmāī, varte chhe vairāgya re;

Nishkuḷānand kahe tene kāī, kathaṇ no’ye karvu tyāg re... 4

(4) Within his heart, this type of detachment remains throughout the day. Nishkulanand Swami says, “Nothing is difficult for him to renounce.”

Pad - 53

Evā jannī upar Hari, rājī chhe Akshar pati re;

Jeṇe bhakti bhāve shu karī, fare nahi kedī mati re... 1

(1) God is pleased upon such a person who has loving devotion towards God and whose state of mind will never turn.

Sharīrnā sukh sarve tyāgī, bāndhī Prabhu sāthe prīti re;

Jenī lagnī lālshu lāgī, te to gayā jagjītī re... 2

(2) He has renounced all physical pleasures and tied his love to God. A person who has such fervor for God has conquered the world.

Kapaṭ rahīt Shrījīnī sevā, jāṇjo je jane karī re;

Prabhunā padne pāmīyā evā, ā bhavjaḷ gayā tarī re... 3

(3) Know that he who serves God without deceit has crossed the ocean of death and attained God’s abode.

Temā sanshay lesh ma lāvo, pūraṇ pratīti āṇo re;

Nishkuḷānand kahe nirdāvo, jenā jīvamā jāṇo re... 4

(4) Believe this with full extent and do not have the slightest doubt about it. Nishkulanand Swami says he who knows this has no complaints in his heart.

Pad - 54

Evāne sangethī Akshardhāme, javāy chhe jo jarūr re;

Bījāne sange to sukh na pāme, dukh rahe bharpūr re... 1

(1) By his association one can definitely go to Akshardham. By association of others, one cannot gain happiness; complete misery remains.

Jene jāvu hoy Jamne hāthe, dakshīṇ deshni māy re;

Te to sukhe raho kapṭī sāthe, tenu kahetā nathī kāy re... 2

(2) He who wants to be taken to narak by Jamduts can happily stay with a deceitful person. There is nothing more to be said of that.

Paṇ jāvu jene Prabhujī pāse, tene karvo tapās re;

Antare bījo tajvo āshe; thaī rahevu Harinā dās re... 3

(3) But whoever wants to go near God must introspect. He must renounce other hopes and remain as God’s servant.

Āvī vāt antare utārī, karī levu nij kām re;

Nishkuḷānand kahe vichārī, to pāmīe Akshardhām re... 4

(4) Imbibe these words into your heart to achieve your spiritual goal. Nishkulanand Swami says thoughtfully that then you will attain Akshardham.

Pad - 55

Jeh Dhāmne pāmīne prāṇī, pāchhu paḍvānu nathī re;

Sarve par chhe sukhnī khāṇī, kevu kahīe tene kathī re. 1

(1) One never has to return from Akshardham after reaching it. It is the ultimate abode and is like a treasure mine of happiness. How can I describe it through words?

Anant mukta jyā ānande bhariyā, rahe chhe Prabhujīnī pās re;

Sukh sukh jyā sukhnā dariyā, tyā vasī rahyā vās re. 2

(2) Where infinite liberated souls stay near God and remain in ecstasy. They reside in an ocean of bliss, bliss and more bliss.

Tej tej jiyā tej ambār, tejomay tan tenā re;

Tejomay jyā sarve ākār, shu kahīe sukh enā re. 3

(3) Where light illuminates all directions and the body of the muktas are radiant, and where all forms are filled with divine light. What can be said of the bliss there?

Te tej madhye sihāsan shobhe, tiyā beṭhā Bahunāmī re;

Nishkuḷānand kahe man lobhe, Pūrṇa Purushottam pāmī re. 4

(4) Amidst that light resides Maharaj seated on a beautiful throne. Nishkulanand Swami says that, having attained that God, my mind remains infatuated with God.

Pad - 56

Evā Dhāmnī āgaḷ bījā, shī gaṇtīmā ganāy re;

Ma’pralaykāḷnā agnimā sījā, hammesh je haṇāy re. 1

(1) In comparison to Akshardham, how can the other abodes compare? They will be destroyed in the fire of ultimate dissolution (āntyantik pralay).

Prakrūtī purush pralaymā āve, Bhav Brahmā na rahe koy re;

Chaud lok dhām re’vā na pāve, sarve samhār hoy re. 2

(2) Prakruti, Purush, Shiv, Brahmā, and even the 14 realms do not remain; they are all destroyed.

Jem kaḍāyāmā kaṇ uchhaḷe chhe, ūnchā nīchā agni jvāḷe re;

Tem ja tandhārī baḷe chhe, swarg mrutyu ne pātāḷe re. 3

(3) Everyone in Swarg-lok, Mrutyu-lok (earth), and pātāl sizzle just like grains sizzling in a heated pan under a fire.

Māṭe sukh nathī kiyā māne, Prabhujīnā pad pakhī re;

Nishkuḷānand ke’ bhule chhe shāne, le vāt āvī tu lakhī re. 4

(4) Therefore, know that happiness is nowhere but in God’s abode. Nishkulanand Swami says, “Why do you mistake (other abodes to be similar to Akshardham)? Write down my words as I have spoken.”
